Collingwood Community Connected Online

10/Mar/2009

The site will grow to include content accessible in different languages

The Collingwood community launched their own website on Tuesday 10th March at the Wired Community @ Collingwood office.

Coffee, cake and a sausage sizzle were provided by staff and volunteers as friends and partners of the initiative chatted about a shared vision of a socially and digitally connected community.

The Collingwood community website includes information on services offered in the area including medical, education, seniors, transport and welfare, local news and events in the area, information on relevant publications and links to other useful sites for the community.

Project Manager Judy St.

Clare comments “I look at the Collingwood Community Website as an organic part of the Wired Project and this is the seed we are planting today.

“Over the coming months and years we will watch it grow into something we can all stand back and look at with pride.

“We will prune it and shape it as we go with feedback and input from residents, community groups, government departments and the corporate sector as the need arises. A bit like watering and nurturing a new plant in the garden.”

During the launch Judy discussed the diversity of the Collingwood community and how Wired Community @ Collingwood would like to see the site grow to include content accessible in different languages, an option they are in the process of developing.
