Nangiloc Launches New Look Community Website

The Nangiloc community in north-western Victoria are celebrating the launch of their new look community website today!

Much work has gone into filling the site with information on local community and sporting groups, local news stories and community services. But really, the website is for and by the community to plan and promote upcoming events.

“As part of a small community that works hard, everyone is busy and wears at least a few volunteer hats. So when it comes to fundraising events, you need to make sure everyone comes and that events don’t clash with one another.” says Fiona Murdoch, website volunteer.

To let the community know about upcoming events, “We had the option of either providing limited paper-copies of our community newsletter River Ramblings, or on our local notice-board. We thought we could go two better by distributing the community newsletter online and having a page set up to advertise local events.”

Website managers Fiona Murdoch and Maaike Johnston have utilised the free website design service .au Community Domains is offering to Community Site in a Box users, blending images of the Nangiloc area with a fresh colour scheme.

The official launch, being held at the Nangiloc/Colignan primary school today will be a real community affair, combining the talents of the website volunteers, primary school, kindergarten, landcare group and the community association.
